Princess the Bear (PE Pellets, Indonesia, No Space)

Princess made in Indonesia with the no-space swing tag and P.E. pellets sells in a recorded range of $6 to $19, with a median of $13, the least expensive of the Indonesia no-space combinations.

Indonesia production is reported to have used richer, softer fabric than the Chinese runs, though collectors have not settled on a reliable way to tell the two apart by feel alone. What actually places this bear is the swing tag: no-space was used for the earliest China run and for some of the initial Indonesia production, so an Indonesia no-space Princess is a candidate, alongside the China no-space version, for the true first edition.

Whether Indonesia's production actually started alongside China's, or came after, is unresolved. No production record has ever been released to settle it, so collectors chasing the first edition of Princess are really choosing between two unproven claims to the title.

The Canadian customs tush tag turns up on this version too. Paired with the P.E. tush tag it adds only a dollar or two to this bear's price, well short of the jump it produces on the P.V.C. version.
