Distribution was blind: a single generic polybag design, printed in English, French and Spanish, covered all 101 figures with no printed number or name. Collectors only learned which puppy they'd gotten after opening it. Resellers built this numbering scheme long after 1996; nothing from McDonald's or Disney assigns it.
