Tank the Armadillo – 9 Lines, No Shell

The nine-line Tank without a shell is the second of three versions made under one style number. He has nine vertical lines of stitching on each side and nothing under them. The first version has seven lines, and the third keeps the nine and adds a horizontal border beneath them to suggest a shell, so the check is to count the lines and then look for the border.

He arrived on 1 June 1996, the day the seven-line version was retired. He is found only with a fourth generation swing tag and a third generation tush tag, so any other pairing is worth a second look. His poem exists in two printings, one with border spelled boarder in the third line. Eight-line examples are a documented oddity. The fabric is the one Ty used on Mel and Spike.
