Smarty Jones the Horse – Retail Version

Smarty Jones, in the retail version, carries none of the extra tagging his Kentucky Derby Store sibling does. Ty sold this one first, from 31 October 2007, about five weeks before the exclusive version reached the Derby Store's own shop under the same style number.

The tag on both versions tells the same story: the real Smarty Jones was born on 28 February 2001, overcame a fractured skull to win the 2004 Kentucky Derby in 2:04:06, then took the Preakness Stakes by a record eleven and a half lengths, for owners Ray and Patricia Chapman.
