Smarty Jones the Horse – Kentucky Derby Version

Smarty Jones, in the Kentucky Derby Store version, wears an extra swing tag his retail sibling does not, stamped with the store's own name. That tag was Ty's addition on 7 December 2007, about five weeks after the plain retail version had already reached stores under the same style number.

The tag tells the real Smarty Jones's story. He was born on 28 February 2001, came back from a fractured skull to win the 2004 Kentucky Derby in a time of 2:04:06, then took the Preakness Stakes by a record eleven and a half lengths, for owners Ray and Patricia Chapman.
