Rainbow the Chameleon Tie Dyed

The tie-dyed Rainbow came first, introduced 1 July 1998, and had by far the shorter run of the two colors, retiring just two months later on 1 September 1998.

Tie-dyed is also the pattern Rainbow shares with Iggy the Iguana, style 4038. Ty's production teams appear to have mixed up chameleons and iguanas, and built both animals in the same tie-dyed and blue looks under their separate names. That was a flaw in the concept at the time, not a mislabeled bear, so a tie-dyed Rainbow and a tie-dyed Iggy are both exactly what Ty intended to make.

Both Rainbow colors carry a fifth generation swing tag and a sixth generation tush tag. Ty produced Rainbow in numbers large enough, tie-dyed included, that neither version is likely to become genuinely scarce.
