McDonald’s Teenie Beanie Pinky

Pinky the Flamingo is bag number 2 in McDonald's 1997 Teenie Beanie Babies Happy Meal promotion, a miniature version of the Ty Beanie Baby of the same name.

McDonald's began the first Teenie Beanie Babies Happy Meal promotion on April 11, 1997. The plan was a five-week run of ten Ty Beanie Baby designs, about 100 million toys in total. Demand emptied restaurants' supply almost immediately, and McDonald's ended the promotion early on April 25, roughly three weeks ahead of the original schedule.

This toy is a smaller, McDonald's-only release of Pinky the Flamingo, a separate item from the full-size Ty Beanie Baby of the same name.

How to identify it

Individually packaged in a small polybag printed for the 1997 promotion, about 5 x 6.25 inches.

Carries a McDonald's-specific swing tag and tush tag rather than Ty's standard heart tag.

Made under license by Simon Marketing Inc., whose 1997 tush tags print in red on the logo side and black on the reverse.

Numbered No. 2 in the 1997 set.

USA production tush tags are smaller than the Canadian version, which carries an added bilingual (English and French) customs tag.
