McDonald's Happy Meal Furby

McDonald's released a set of 12 plush Furby clip-on toys in spring 2000. Contemporary collector records and packaging displays date the promotion to March 23 through April 13, 2000 in the United States, and UK distribution of McFurby plush is documented the same year. Each toy pairs a soft fabric body in an animal-inspired colour or print with a moulded plastic Furby face, oversized ears, a synthetic hair tuft and fabric feet.

This is a separate promotion from the 1999 U.S. plastic McFurbys, an assortment of around 80 figure combinations built on moving actions and colour variations. The plush clip-ons carry the animal names: Elephant, Tiger, Tree Frog, Owl, Raccoon, Monkey, Lamb, Cow, Giraffe, Fox, Dinosaur and Diamondback Snake, numbered 1 through 12.

How to identify it

Small stuffed fabric body, rigid plastic face assembly, large flat fabric ears, synthetic hair tuft and two fabric feet; no electronics, batteries or sensors.

Identify by animal motif and fabric pattern first, then the combination of body, belly, faceplate, feet and tuft colours. Surviving examples may retain a sewn-in label and the original attachment loop or clip.

Not to be confused with the plastic 1999 U.S. McFurby figures, which are hard-bodied and built around simple moving actions.
