When Disney sent the 1961 animated 101 Dalmatians back to cinemas in the summer of 1991, McDonald's marked the re-release with four poseable figures. Unlike the enormous 1996 promotion that followed the live-action film, this is a small character set: Pongo, Lucky, the Colonel paired with Sgt. Tibbs on a single toy, and Cruella De Vil.

It is the promotion collectors mean when they refer to a McDonald's Cruella. She does not appear in the 1996 assortment, which was 101 unnamed puppies with no human characters at all.

Identification notes

These are named characters from the animated film, which is the quickest way to separate them from the 1996 figures: if a toy depicts a recognisable character rather than an anonymous spotted puppy, it is not from the 1996 set. The Colonel and Sgt. Tibbs share one toy rather than being two releases. One collector index spells the villain Cruella Devilla; that variant is recorded as an alternate name rather than used as the display name. Dating is month-level only, and marketplace listings variously date this set 1990, 1991 and 1992, so treat a seller's year with caution.
