The first Changeables programme put six McDonald's food items in Happy Meals that unfolded into robots. McDonald's gave these figures no character names, so each is identified by its food subject alone: Big Mac, Quarter Pounder with Cheese, Chicken McNuggets, Large Fries, Egg McMuffin and a shake cup.

Transformations are mostly a simple pivot and lift, with the Big Mac the exception: its body performs a sliding action collectors describe as the most interesting in the set. Because the figures carry no names and no numbering, this wave is documented at collection level rather than as separate toy pages.

This promotion is documented as a set. Its individual toys do not have separate pages.

Identification notes

Several food subjects recur in later waves, so a Big Mac or Large Fries figure cannot be assigned to 1987 on subject alone. Two independent sources say the 1989 programme reused exactly two 1987 molds in new colours, and only one names them as the Big Mac and Large Fries; that is a claim about tooling, not a reason to merge records. One database omits the shake and lists only five figures, though physical 1987 shake examples exist. Collectors call these McRobots; that term appears on no packaging and is stored here only as an alias.
