Trap the Mouse

Trap is a mouse from the first wave of Beanie Babies, retired less than a year after he arrived in June 1994. He carries only the first generation tush tag, has no poem and no recorded birthday, and shares his fabric with Flash and Manny.

Trap is counterfeited, and the fakes can be checked against the mouse itself. An authentic Trap is a bluish grey where the counterfeit runs to a yellowish grey. The knot in the tail sits near the tip on a genuine mouse and close to the body on a fake. The nose on an authentic Trap is a peachy pink, and the counterfeit's is a paler pink.

The swing tag gives a fake away as well. Inside, the words to, from and with love are printed in the wrong typeface, and the printing on the right-hand inside page is off centre. A third generation swing tag on a counterfeit is made from a shiny, slick, orange-red card stock that turns up on many fakes, where the authentic tag is a true red.
