Stripes the Tiger Tan and Black

Stripes the Tiger, in this black and tan coloring, went to two Detroit Tigers baseball promotions during his run. Ty gave out 10,000 on 31 May 1998 against the Chicago White Sox and another 10,000 on 8 August 1998 against the Seattle Mariners.

He also turns up wearing tush tags that belong to other animals entirely: Blizzard, Coral, Freckles, Gracie, Prance, Roary, Scottie and Sparky have all been documented on this Stripes. A mismatched tush tag like these is a known Ty production habit rather than proof of tampering.

Other documented oddities on this version include a fuzzy-fabric belly in place of the usual smooth one, and stripes that run lengthwise on the body instead of in the standard direction.

His swing tag poem was also printed in two slightly different wordings for the third line, which is a normal printing variance rather than anything to be concerned about.
