Spooky the Ghost

Spooky arrived in September 1995 with a Halloween birthday and the wrong name on his tag. The third generation swing tags call him Spook, and Ty corrected it that October, which makes the early tag a genuine dated variation rather than a misprint.

His face is worth a close look, because Ty stitched several versions of it. Some Spookys have a slight smile in black thread, others a U-shaped mouth, others a V. On some the thread is heavier than on others, so two authentic examples side by side can look like different toys.

He also shows up wearing other Beanie Babies' tush tags, with documented examples carrying tags for 1997 Teddy, Freckles, Mel, Radar, Ringo and Roary. Counterfeit Spookys exist, so buy on the fabric and the face rather than on the tag alone.
