About Smarty the Owl Maroon With Cap

Smarty the Owl in the maroon vest with a graduation cap is the 2005 retail release, style 40232, on sale from 31 March to 23 November that year. A slightly different Smarty, style 44050, was sold at the same time only through the Ty online store.

Although this Smarty retired in 2005, Ty brought him back through the online store in February 2010 without his cap. That return carried the same tags and the same style number, so a capless Smarty with 40232 on the tush tag is the 2010 return of this bear rather than a separate version.
