Pinky the Flamingo

Pinky is a flamingo, and her long neck made her a manufacturing challenge. She stayed in production for three and a half years, long enough to be found with every tush tag generation from the first to the sixth.

Counterfeits are easy to rule out on two checks. A fake is red rather than pink. And the tush tag on a fake spells the name as two words, Pin Ky.

She was given away at a basketball game and a baseball game in 1998. The San Antonio Spurs handed out 2,500 at their game against the Phoenix Suns on 29 April 1998, and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays gave away 10,000 against the Kansas City Royals on 23 August 1998. She was also used at the 1997 San Diego Collectibles Show.

Four wrong-name tush tags are documented on Pinky: Chops, Derby, Mel and Pugsly. Magic and Pouch have both been found wearing a Pinky tag in return. These are factory swaps, and a Pinky in a Mel tag is still a Pinky.
