Goldie the Goldfish

Goldie is a goldfish from the first wave of Beanie Babies, and three and a half years of production took her across every tag generation from the first to the sixth. Her fabric is the same orange as the orange Digger.

Goldie has a long record of wearing other characters' tush tags. Documented examples carry tags belonging to Chocolate, Crunch, Inch, Lizzy, Pinchers and Radar. Ty's factories swapped tush tags between characters often enough that a wrong name is a known oddity rather than evidence the tag was changed later.

Goldie the Goldfish is bag number 5 in McDonald's 1997 Teenie Beanie set, the promotion planned to run five weeks from April 11 and cut short instead, on April 25, when demand emptied restaurant supplies almost immediately. McDonald's had ordered 100 million toys for the run, 10 million of each of the ten characters, so sealed bags are still easy to find today, and the bag alone does not make one valuable.
