Frankenteddy the Bear

Frankenteddy is a Halloween bear made in six variations that differ only in the colour of his feet, all under the same style number. He was on sale for two months in the autumn of 2002 and carries a birthday of 31 October.

His poem was written by a collector. Vicky Russell's verse won the Be a Winner Halloween poem contest run by Mary Beth's Beanies & More magazine in 2002. That made her the first Ty collector outside the company to write a poem used on a Beanie Baby swing tag.

A prototype Frankenteddy signed by Ty was auctioned at ty.com in October 2002 to raise money for UNICEF. Both of the prototype's feet were black. Articles on the auction and on the winning poem ran in the September/October 2002 edition of Mary Beth's Beanies magazine, with the signed prototype on the front cover.

The one recorded oddity is a Frankenteddy with a foot sewn on backwards.
