Clubby the Bear

Clubby was never sold in a shop. He went only to members of the Beanie Babies Official Club, which is most of why he is remembered, and he was the first Ty bear to wear a button on his chest.

The tush tag carries a small puzzle. Clubby's sixth generation tush tags exist in three versions, printed 01, 02 or 03 beside the Ty heart on the front, and no one has established what the numbers were for.

Two oddities are documented: Clubby with the chest button missing, and Clubby with the button upside down and on the wrong side.

The ribbon is the fastest counterfeit check. A genuine Clubby wears a tie-dyed ribbon, while fakes use a red one in the wrong material, too wide and shiny on one side only. The button helps too, reading more orange on a counterfeit where the real one carries more pink, and sitting on the surface of the fabric rather than embedded in it.
