Claude the Crab

Claude is a crab whose name appears in all capital letters inside the swing tag of some examples released in Canada. Those are said to have gone out on Mother's Day, though that detail is unconfirmed.

He was a promotional giveaway once, and it came after retirement. The Sacramento Kings gave him to season ticket holders at their game against the Los Angeles Lakers on 14 March 1999.

Claude has been found with tush tags belonging to Digger, Inky, Legs, Snowball and Weenie. A wrong name on the tush tag is a mix-up at the factory and does not on its own mean the tag has been replaced.

Claude the Crab was bag number 9 in McDonald's 1999 Teenie Beanie promotion, one of twelve numbered animals distributed from May 21 to June 3, 1999. It came in a printed plastic bag like the rest of the numbered set, and enough were made that a sealed bag alone does not create value.
